iS THIS LEAGUE FOR FEMALES ONLY?

  • Yes, as currently constructed, the ABHL is focused exclusively on growing the game of basketball for our female athletes.

WHERE WILL GAMES BE PLAYED?

  • All recreational games will be played indoor on wood courts.  Our current locations include, but are not limited to:

    • Primary Location for 4th-8th Grade League

      • Doral Preparatory Academy

      • 11100 NW 27th St. Doral, FL 33172

    • Primary Location for Adult League

      • Our Lady of Lourdes Academy

      • 5525 SW 84th St. Miami, FL 33143

    • Primary Location for High School League

      • Christopher Columbus High School

      • 3000 SW 87th Ave Miami, FL 33165

IS THERE A TRYOUT?

  • No, the ABHL is a recreational league with doors open for all females of all skill levels.  If you want to play, you will play.

    • For the 4th-8th grade league all players will be drafted by a paid coach to their respective team.  There is a showcase in which the athletes are put through a series of drills and game action.  All coaches are present and evaluating for the draft that takes place immediately following the showcase session.

    • For the HS & ADULT Leagues, all players must create their own teams before registering.  If you’d like to register as a “free agent” you can request to do so, however there are no guarantees you will be placed on a team.

WHERE WILL PRACTICES BE HELD?

  • For the 4th-8th grade league, practice locations are determined by the head coach you were drafted by.  Most coaches utilize outdoor courts for practices.  We have relied heavily on parents offering their backyard courts for practices.

HOW OFTEN ARE THE PRACTICES?

  • For the 4th-8th grade league, practices will be scheduled 1 time per week, usually for 1 hour.  Due to our unpredictable weather, we ask for everyone’s patience and understanding when practices must be canceled.  If we can make up the practices during another day, we will…if not, chalk one up for Mother Nature.

HOW OFTEN ARE THE GAMES?

  • Games are held once a week. 

    • 4-8th grade league plays Saturdays between the hours of 1-5pm

    • High school league plays Sundays between the hours of 9am-12pm

    • Adult league plays Sundays between the hours of 5-8pm
